Write API
Design a dependable path from a writing brief to a reviewed content record.
Write API is a useful umbrella term for software that creates or updates written content. Begin by deciding whether your workflow generates drafts, stores editorial records, publishes to a destination, or combines those responsibilities. Keeping the boundaries explicit makes the system easier to explain and maintain.
Define the record before the request
Give each article a stable internal identifier, an intended reader, an approved brief, a source list, a body format, and a review state. Store destination identifiers separately. A title is editable copy, not a reliable unique key. Start with one content type so errors are visible before the workflow becomes complicated.
Use a state transition, not a mystery button
A conceptual sequence is brief → draft → review → approved → published. Generation completes only the drafting step. Record approval against the exact version, and invalidate it after material changes. Keep a destination adapter responsible for formatting and writing, rather than giving the writer component unrestricted publication access.
A reviewer can inspect the brief and draft, find unresolved source questions, identify the destination, and recover an uncertain write without creating a duplicate. Test a missing title, interrupted connection, and changed approval version before adding another channel.
